In New Zealand a 2007 amendment to the 1956 Health Act stipulated that drinking water for domestic consumption must be tested in labortories ‘accredited by International Accreditation New Zealand or any other prescribed body for the purposes of this section’ or conforming to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Under the New Public Drinking Water Supply Program, the Government of Nova Scotia, Department of Environment require drinking water quality testing is to be completed by approved laboratories in accordance with the Policy for the Accreditation of Laboratories. (Canada)
