Case Study

EU / Swiss trade agreement places strong reliance on accredited conformity assessment

Switzerland and the European Union have updated the agreement on mutual recognition of conformity assessment (Mutual Recognition Agreement, MRA). The update was required to reflect where technical regulations had been revised. It now allows for friction-free trade and the removal of technical barriers between Switzerland and the EU in the areas of:

  • Simple pressure vessels
  • medical devices
  • Radio equipment and telecommunication terminal equipment
  • Equipment and Protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmosphere
  • Electrical equipment and Electromagnetic compatibility
  • Measuring instruments
  • Medicinal products
  • GMP inspection and batch certification
  • Lifts
  • Explosives for civil use

A copy of the agreement is available here.
